Re: Basket Cases

TL 250 seat update. Having ditched my aluminum seat, I've bought a new RS250 seat from Shedworks in the UK. Its been newly widened and arrived back last week. Having not worked with fibreglass myself, I had someone else (They make carbon-fibre canoes for Olympic rowers) add a 25mm plug down the midd...

Re: Honda TL 250 Trials Rebuild

Back in the 70s there was a UK produced (Fraser) trials bike fitted with the 4 valve XR/XL 250 motor, and while it was much more powerful than a TLR motor, it was also very heavy and much bulkier than the CB125 based TLR................pretty nasty piece of kit really, and better suited to trail ri...

Re: How much did your twinshock cost?
wow, $1400 for a TL? thats like paying $25000 for a secondhand Honda/l Montesa today
Not as steep as it sounds as the $1,400 is 1976 Kiwi dollars. That same year I also bought a brand new XL250 for NZD$1,750 (couldn't stretch my budget to the extra for an XL350). Here's anot...

"Good for use as a static display". TL's RULE – until you try and pick one up.
But isn't the above pic inspirational.

I've a long way to go; see photo of the Fat Bird below...

Re: TY250A SEAT

Sammy miller products in the uk has a selection of TY seats and they post worldwide. Plan C for the seat base is to take whatever's left of the seat base you have to a boat builder. Quite a few boats have one-off fibreglass seat bases and they also work closelyy with marine seat cover makers. And th...

http://i1221.photobucket.com/albums/dd480/NonstopRoss/RS250-seat-trial.gif Here's the RS250 seat base that I'm fitting to my TL. Seat base has been cut in half length-wise and now needs a 25mm insert from nose to tail to fit the piggier TL frame. Photo is before I cut the seat bracket cross-bar fro...

Re: Basket Cases

"The HEAVY XL frames of the day". lol.
While the TL frame geometry may have been different the steel is the same Titanic-grade as the XL.
I cut the seat bracket off my TL250 frame last week and there was so many sparks it was like a scene from Flashdance (showing my age)!
