Re: Me.

Thread from the dead....

Bought a TY175B yesterday. Aiming for the TCC trial at Gundaroo in August. Will post pics and many stupid questions in the next couple of days.

And three years after it was aked: Yes, 1994 TM125 was pink. Mine's got mostly black plastics from a 1995 model on it, though.

Inching along with this, but had a bit of a bust of inspiration last weekend after riding my little AT1 around in the rocks at a mate's property...

I've got a choice of rear wheels - should I go cush drive or not? I can see arguments for both, but lack the experience to make the decision...

Sorry for the thread hikack, but is having self-retuning footpegs actually a requirment for trials? How do the TL125 owners cope?

And so it begins: http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f128/annaandnathan/Photo0097.jpg Don't expect overly rapid progress, as it's one of... let me see... one of four consecutive bike projects*, but I'll post more pics (and questions, no doubt) as it progresses. * Others are AT2 resto, YZ250K rebuild,...

RestoreMaz, both the DT125 race bike and the 175 'trials bike to be' are 1974 models - twin shockers. I've also got a late 1977 175 twin shocker (just before the monoshock came out) awaiting restoration. The 175 owes me literally $20, and I've got a shed full of old Yammie bits - so I'm still expect...

Well, you see.... I can't find a remotely decent TY175 or 250 for what I consider to be reasonable money. But I do own a TY175 motor and a DT175A rolling chassis... so I'm wondering if the DT frame can be used/modified to be a workable trials frame. I know it sounds like a dumb idea, but I've got a ...

Touche!

Where do you get the geometry stuff? I know I can dig out the gear ratios from the parts manuals (which I was hopingto avoid, 'cause we've only got dial-up at home).

Wow, that was quick! Thanks!

I'm interested in the standard Yamaha specs (gear ratios etc), but I'm particularly interested in steering geometry - head tube angle, etc.

A question for TY175 owners.

Can anyone with a TY175 measure the length of the swing arm for me please?

Specifically, I want to know the distance from the centre of the pivot bolt to the middle position for the rear axle.

TIA! :)

Oh, and if anyone has links to accurate specs and/or to good pics, I'd appreciate them too.

Nice work Dave! :)

Bikes are much easier - and cheaper - than cars, hey!
