Re: confusion about fuel/oil ratio on TXT pro 125

RMjay84, Totally agree with David's points. I've had Gas Gas bikes since 1996 (many of them) and currently on a 2014 280 racing. I have always run them on 80:1 once run in. I've had the smoky exhaust issues a few times but only after a long hard trail ride. Never had smoky exhaust when just doing no...

Re: Looking for a trials Bike for a 14 year old + Info

Ticketyman, If your son is 14 he can only "Compete" on a 125cc Trials bike at any MA sanctioned event. It's in the GCR's so don't buy a bigger bike if he wants to ride any events. Physically there is no difference size wise in most modern trials bikes from 125cc to 300cc and only a kg or s...

Re: Mild hybrid TY attn David Lahey/Julz

I reckon the Bottom end is off an early DT175 or DT125. They both had tacho's & instrument lights fitted. I just did a prefix search & 487 comes up as a 1974 DT125 Back in the day Yamaha shared many bottom ends and it was common to hear of guys with 175 barrels fitted to 125 dirt bikes. Hell...

Re: Worn tyre, is it time to replace?

Just about all tyres have a manufacture date on them. This is used on car tyres as well as motorcycle tyres. They don't just have a normal date stamped on them. It's a 4 digit code & mainly only on one side of the tyre. eg: 2712 or 3511 this means the first example was made in week 27 of 2012, s...

Mick Doohan was on an Air Cooled Yamaha Mono, not sure if it was a 250 or 350 '84 - '85 era.

Re: Trials as training. Racers on trials bikes.

Josh Brookes, Aussie Road racer currently giving the Poms a hard time in BSB has a Gas Gas in the UK he plays with when not racing superbikes.
Glenn Kearney, Aussie Enduro star that raced GNCC in the USA for 6 years bought my 2008 Gas Gas as a 'Cross Training' tool a few years back.
