Re: Basket Cases

Chippy asked and a couple of other guys may be interested in how I'm going with my s l o w TY rebuild. It actually started off as 2 bikes bought as spare parts for my perfect patina twinshocker. I've had the frame blasted and painted locally. Most of the alloy parts are being blasted at the moment. ...

Re: Basket Cases

Hi all, yes Greg I had a slight typo when I wrote that the odd wheel of my TY's had a 410.5 wear limit. It is actually 141.0mm. In my defense though, I was getting the willy pips with trying to post comments on here and being kicked out in 2 minutes. I've posted a couple of pictures for you to ponde...

Re: Is anyone else having trouble staying logged in!

Yes. Having to type my reply in another application and cut and paste it here.

I am unable to view Trials Australia on my PC as chrome has decided to open everything with https.... Trials Australia is not a https site apparently. But I'll get through that one somehow...

Re: Basket Cases

Thanks for that David. I should have said that the stripped hub is the same as the hub from my trusty TY175C that I've been riding for a while. So I guessed it is correct. The backing plate isn't the same as the other 2 and this had me thinking incorrect wheel or possibly the JC had a different one....

Re: Basket Cases

I am getting off to a slow start with the refurbishment of my TY175. I'm stripping bits for vapour blasting at the moment and it's brake hub time. I have 2 different types of hubs and am not sure if 1 is a ring in, or if it's correct. The problem I have is that all 3 of my TY's are 1976 build, 2 are...

Re: Basket Cases

Looking great Roger. Keep us posted on your progress. Just because our projects start off as basket cases, shouldn't mean they stay hidden when we bring them back to their former glorious condition. I've also got a couple of TY 175 wheels to respoke and am interested in where to find good quality sta...

Re: Vans and bikes and camping

I'm very basic when it comes to camping with my trials bike for the weekend. I throw a mattress in the back of the ute and the bike goes into the trailer. 2 burner gas cooker and food in the esky. I also park the ute under a 3X3 meter gazebo just to keep the heat off the back. I have a separate 12 v...

Re: name plate colours

Wouldn't it be nice if one day all the individual clubs, the state and national bodies all agreed on colours, grades and lines for all riders - and stuck with them.

Imagine being able to ride a trial anywhere in Australia and know what colour name plate and lines you're going to be riding.

Re: Who wears body armour

Why is it that manufacturers of protective clothing for bikes all try some fantastic space age fibre and construction to make their products cooler for the wearer, and then dye it black to attract and absorb as much natural temperature as possible? Why not say any of the multitude of colors that don...
