dumb ty questions

OK, so I finally found myself a half reasonable TY, its rideable and goes well enough for me to get a bit of practice up but I have a couple of queries, hoping someone can point me in the right direction... I am missing a footpeg return spring on one peg, are these a pretty generic thing? ie will on...

Re: Twinshock class run to no-stop rules

A view from outside the square – 2 cents worth from someone looking to get into riding Twin Shocks. This topic has been an interesting read and it shows at the least that people do think long and hard about all aspects of the sport. I think I am like a lot of prospective twin shock competitors in th...

Twin shock weights

Just wondering if anyone is nerdy enough to have got together a list of comparative weights for the mainstream twinshocks.

I am particularly interested in TY250's (B/D's) vs Sherpa T's (the later versions).

Any pointers would be appreciated.

Cheers

Question re boots

Team I have a pair of Ashman Red Devil MX boots that I used to use on my KT, too many years ago now. I have kept them clean and dry, there is no mildew damage and the buckles etc are not rusted, all up in pretty good nick. The leather however , particularly around the ankle area has gone hard with a...

ty fork question

I recently acquired (was cursed?) with a TY250A. The forks have been converted to airforks but they leak down pretty quickly, no surprises there given the age of the thing and condition of seals etc. However, it has no coil springs inside the forks and the front end basically collapses as the air bl...

TY250A question

Gang

Can anyone help with a clutch cable for a TY250A? I have a D in bits that I pulled the cable out of but the nipples on the end are different and although I think it will work it is clearly not the right size (in the cable ends).

Just a good used one would be fine.

Cheers

TY owners Brisbane and Gold Coast?

Just wondering if there are any TY nuts down here on the Gold Coast or in Brisbane? I have a TY250A that I would like to bring back from the dead but also have a 250D parts bike that I will sell/swap/part out etc to get the bits I need. I would dearly love the chance to have a yak to someone local w...

Re: TY250 A question

So would that explain the collapsed front forks?

I would have thought even with no oil in them the springs would keep them extended?

Re: TY250 A question

Thanks guys, bike was delivered this morning and it is an A. One odd thing though is that the forks look collapsed, ie they are fluly compressed just with the bikes weight on them and wont move when I take weight off them. When I have a closer look however there is an airline to the top of the forks...

TY250 A question

OK, bought another bucket of bolts, I think this is an A (has a steel tank and 250 on the LHS crankcase cover). Can I ask a couple of dumb questions..... (a) can anyone confirm what the frame number should be for an A (b) this was reportedly running very recently. It still has the oil pump in place ...
