Re: Cota 348 carby swap

Hello all. Here is one for you all. What about if I throw my carb away and use a homemade fuel injection system on my Sherpa using all parts made pre 1986. How would that go over? And I will even go green.     Graham.

Re: Cota 348 carby swap

Hello all. Just a question for FM 350, Where are the Koso`s made. I have never heard of them. I have heard good things about the OKO`s but I am not sure if they are legal in the twinshock class over here. Why we use Mikunis is that any wreckers will have some in the size that you need as they used t...

Re: Cota 348 carby swap

Hello David. AHH! The joys of changing an Amal over to a mikuni, isn`t it wonderfull. It really makes you wonder when the early Mikunis had made under licence from Amal or something similar on them doesn`t it. I can remember changing the slide and every jet in a mk2 Amal and it still wouldn`t run ri...

Re: alpina 350 crank ect to 199

Hello ims6210. The most used gearing on the Sherpa`s was 11/46 but I was just reading in the history of the Sherpa T that a 72 350 Sherpa the gearing was 13/52 and on the 79 it says they were increased from13/46 to 11/49. On mine which has a 151 motor in it I run 11/42 which I like but I ride on the...

Re: alpina 350 crank ect to 199

Oh whoops! I was in bed thinking about what I had written in that last post and it clicked. Trimmed the piston skirt on the intake side . Yes that will change the port timing but by how much I`m not sure. You might just have to lean it off a bit . So you might just have to wait and see. Graham. :? :...

Re: alpina 350 crank ect to 199

Hello all. If you have used the Alpina barrel the port timing should be alright, I think. But I`m not a mechanic or anything like it so I have had no technical training but it makes common sense if the barrel and crank are off the same bike then it should be alright as you aren`t moving the piston u...

Re: alpina 350 crank ect to 199

Hello ims6201. It does sound like the 166 is a 64 mm stroke. I was trying to find out what bore and stroke they had on the internet but didn`t have any luck though all I could find was a photo of one. If it is a 64mm stroke the best thing to do would be to have the cases machined th suit the barrel ...
