Re: ty 250 mono aftermarket parts

I now have a TY Yam which won a couple of Brit air cooled mono championships. Mods on it have been carried out with modern conditions and tyres in mind, and will be interesting to see how it compares to the 5 TY Mono's I owned back in the day, which were totally stock.

Re: ty 250 mono aftermarket parts

I admire you for having a go at a project like a TY Mono, as they need an awful lot of work to help them go well in modern conditions! They really need the chopper head angle altering, footrests moving, and most important of all a rear shock that works reasonably well. Back in the day the only real ...

Re: ty 250 mono aftermarket parts

Is the Chris Koch Yam state of the art in terms of air cooled mono Yam motors then? All of the modified TY's I have tried tend to rev much more freely than the stock bikes, but grip less well in slippery conditions. Person in the UK to talk to about the TY mono is Nigel Birkett, as not entirely sure...

Re: Early to mid 90's Euro bikes/parts

Look at a TY250 mono, most parts still easily available and far far more reliable than early water-cooled bikes

Re: Cota for sale?

The problem is caused by the kick start mechanism being originally designed for a 125cc motor...............hence very fragile, and almost certain to fail at some stage!

Re: Cota for sale?

If you can get hold of 242 Montesa kick-start gears, get them advertised on Ebay, and they will sell for very good money.

Re: More TLR

Wonder how you go about re-gassing them after the rebuild?

Re: More TLR

John must have started to hard anodise and modify the design to use gas pressure quite recently then.............should make the shocks work much better than the earlier ones, which seemed to be a bit half finished in engineering terms!

Re: My recent acqusition

There is a guy here in the UK who seems to be trying very hard to make a silk purse out of a sows ear: http://www.classicrider444.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Interesting project, but not sure why he is bothering as a stock 200 or 240 Fantic works a great deal better, and cost...

Re: More TLR

Do your Rock Shocks have hard anodised bodies, and are they gas pressurised? Hard anodising means there is no need for frequent rebuilds, and gas pressure lessens the chance of oil/air mixing, which reduces performance.
