Re: ty 250 mono aftermarket parts

Not sure that even a highly modified TY Mono is likely to be comparable to a stock 245 or 305 Fantic, and always seems a bit strange that people put so much effort into modifying the TY Mono, when a bog standard Fantic is so much better? Flat-slide carb is a big improvement though, but the TY intake...

Re: TY Trials UK.. Internet shopping dissapointment

If you are looking for a reliable and knowledgeable source of parts for TY Yams, then its well worth contacting Birkett Motosport here in the UK. Nigel holds a wide range of parts for these bikes, and was also directly involved in the development of the TY 250 Mono, and is able to help with technica...

Re: new old trails bike...

Use a fully synthetic oil at 60:1 if you are using it as a road bike, and 70:1 for trials. Trials bikes are not great to ride on the road though, as riding position isnt very comfortable, gearing is very low, and some bikes tend to vibrate quite a bit.

Re: Dead 1975 TY175B

OE electronic ignitions can put up with water (but good idea to avoid if possible), but some after market systems dont seem to have insulation on the source and trigger coils thats designed to cope with water, and failure is not unknown. Try drying the stator plate out, using indirect heat, and then...

Re: Honda RTL 250 - Twinshock ???

I'am pretty sure the cam is differenton the rtl,v tlr ,have noticed the motor is a lot smoother as well.does any one no of other changes to motor ? Cam is exactly the same as that used in the TLR250. Only major difference internally between the RTL and TLR250 motors, are that the RTL has a differen...

Re: Honda RTL 250 - Twinshock ???

Its a converted mono............which I think was done by a guy here in the UK who prepares speedway motors. RTL's dont handle that well though, and other than the exhaust, air box, and CDI unit, the motors are pretty much exactly the same as the TLR250, which would probably be just as good as the c...

Re: KT250 resto...help appreciated

I thought all gas shocks had the "mini" piston seperating the gas from the oil ? I am only coming at this from experience with cars but pretty sure all Bilstion and Koni shocks have a piston to seperate the two. Wouldn't pressurised gas on top of the oil actually not work without the pist...

Re: A model TY250 rear shocks

Its worth remembering that shocks which are cheaply made and not re-buildable, must be replaced if they are worn or get damaged, and that in the long run if you ride on a regular basis those you can rebuild are likely to be a better idea. In terms of performance the best trials shocks currently avai...

Re: tlr 200 loses power suddenly when warm

Sounds like an electrical problem, but these are pretty rare on the TLR which generally have 100% reliable electrics! Its worth checking the green earth wire from the CDI unit to frame is grounded properly, and all the other connections are ok. Most often though on bikes that stop when they get hot ...

Re: KT250 resto...help appreciated

If the Betors have the additional piston required to separate oil/gas when shocks are run inverted, they will work fine. However any emulsion shock run inverted without the extra piston, will suffer from cavitation after the bikes being ridden for a while, which will mean damping that doesnt work th...
