Need Help: Bike Transport Riverton SA to Brisbane Qld.

Just found an old Sherpa T in Riverton SA that I need transported to Brisbane(no hurry), missed my window of opportunity with regards to the recent OZ titles. The seller can get it to Gawler but Adelaide may be a bit of a stretch.
Is anyone from this region maybe driving to Brisbane or Gold/Sunshine Coasts over the next few months that has room on their vehicle or trailer to bring it with them please, obviously there would be a few hundred bucks in it for their troubles.
Failing this request, it's either Rail or Road but which is the best option? I want to do it as cheaply as I can but don't want to find it damaged on arrival either. What can people recommend please.
Cheers, Rod (0411268056).

I've used professional bike transporters a few times now and have always had good service. The cost for your job would probably be a few hundred dollars.
I've also had a (new, fully assembled) bike transported by rail (Nerang to Townsville) and while it was cheap, the bike got damaged and had bits missing.
The cheapest commercial way (if the seller is happy to do it for you) is to get them to pick up a bike crate from a bike shop near them and fit the bike into it so it can be freighted by a normal interstate freight company without fear of damage.

Thanks David, only had one quote so far from a specialist bike transporter and it was approx $600 Gawler to Bris. Have used them once before for Sydney to Brisbane and their pricing was competitive for that route but took a very long time, won't mention any names. For that sort of money I'd rather consider a drive there myself with the family for a holiday and take in the region.
