Hey everyone
Just wanted to say - Holy crap. I was in Vegas for New Years so I saw him do it. If you don't know what I'm talking about, google "Robbie Maddison rides up, onto and off the Arc d'triumph at Paris Las Vegas".
I thought us trials riders had mx fellas in the 'ride up things' dept.
I don't know if it got covered in news in Australia. Anything less than front page is unjust.
Anyway, happy new year everyone..
..and if you think that rock is a bit big, think of Robbie.

Re: Robbie Maddison
i saw the practice footage on the TV that day when they were talking about it. Didn't see the jump itself but it looked insane! I envy you!

Re: Robbie Maddison
He also made the yanks look silly by out jumping them by atleast 50ft at the last
crusty's tour in Melbourne.
He's got the sponsorship dollars and a name now so i am sure there will be plenty more
stunts like this to come.

Re: Robbie Maddison
No doubt it was an impressive stunt but I was more impressed with the descent than I was with the ascent. On the way up he had 100 plus metres of run up and a gradual ramp aimed to land him on top of the arc. On the way down he had to judge the throttle control needed to land on the ramp and then he stuck the landing despite breaking and seriously gashing his hand. Hats off to you Robbie you are doing us Aussies proud
Re: Robbie Maddison
So right Trango. He's a legend, but he almost stuffed that decent. Landing rear first whipped the front down, causing him to tear the webbing and tendons in his thumb and nearly lose the back end in the transition. Takes a lot of commitment down a vert on anything, let alone one 100ft tall, then matching wheel speed on an MX bike.
Well done Robbie. Wonder what's next, ride over a replica of Sydney Opera House Might need Julien Dupont for that one.

Insanity prevails in that family group, on tonights CH10 Sports Report they did a bit on his brother in law (name eludes me) who is also an adrenaline junkie doing wakeboarding stunts across 6 continents. Had footage of him towed by jet ski off the wall of iceburgs!!!
Apparently the collude together for ideas!

I would rather push my twinshock than ride a modern!

We were in Las Vegas for New Years too. Didn't manage to get through the crowds from Treasure Island to Paris to see the jump up onto the Arc d'triumph. Did manage to see Robbie Knievel jump over the Volcano at the Mirage.
It was a pathetic fire works display.
