"Open Free" Trials - Pacific Park

Postby The Observer » Fri Jun 29, 2007 12:53 am

Hi Paul,
Sounds great....I've put it to the family to see if we can make it up there.

The maths for the sections seems a bit beyond my memory skills so I'll have to bring my accountant as my accomplice.

Thanks for the notice
We'll have to have a Scorpa get together...
Cheers
David

Open Free Trials

Postby The Observer » Fri Jun 29, 2007 8:11 am

From what Paul's description was, It seems to resemble a game of pinball with the bike & rider replacing the ball and the rocks, gullies and splitters replacing the flippers, cushions and channels.

Is there a time limit for the sections? Or- can a rider bounce of as many cushions (rocks) as possible - to accumulate as many points as possible.
Can the rider go through splitter gates more than once? Can the rider do multiple circuits within a section within time "X" to get more points? Or can the rider only pass each splitter / challenge once in each section?

Back to the organisers...

Looks like it's covered..
Other penalties also apply:
*The sections are marked out with tape either side, go out the tape and its a failed section.
*All points are lost for exceeding 1 minute, *All points are lost for falling off,
*All points are lost for a stationary dab,
*All points are lost for crossing your own tracks
*All points are lost for going outside the section limit.

Hi david
It's our first one as well so it will be a learning process a bit, but on the last few free Sundays we have been setting sections in the "OpenFree" style and trying the system out.
I'll try and answer some of your questions
Is there a time limit for the sections?
*All points are lost for exceeding 1 minute,
Can the rider go through splitter gates more than once? Can the rider do multiple circuits within a section within time "X" to get more points? Or can the rider only pass each splitter / challenge once in each section?
*All three (Red, Blue, Green) would be numbered so you can't ride through a gate twice. Therefore there will be green, blue and red gates marked number 1, take your pick of colours you want to attempt then move onto gate 2 etc etc. It's pretty straight forward once you see it laid out.
It should be a good fun day to try out something fresh, and challenge yourself without the big step up of going up a grade.
See you there we hope.

openfree trial

Postby mmjs » Sat Jun 30, 2007 7:30 pm

Hi, Emma here from Mullumbimby NSW.
This sound like my kind of trial. Will you be supplying calculators for this event or should i bring my own. Any idea of what time it starts and how much to enter.

I'm hoping to make the 9hr trip as it sounds like more fun than a standard trial event.Something like this might make the step from C'grade to B'grade a bit easier,i hope. Cheers

Hi Emma
I promise you you wont need the bar mounted abacus!
Try and arrive betwwen 9 and 9.30 for a 10am kick off.
We will have a section close to the sign on area, and do a demo for all riders at the briefing so everyone is up to speed on the rules.
We will also have the rules posted at each section so you can easily check on the run.
I'll also be supplying some trials goodies as giveaways, not just for the winners, but "name out of the hat" as well.
Should be a good day.
Paul

Paul,
Will the entry fee be the same as a normal trial?

Yes Stu,
The usual fees will apply. No more than a regular entry.
I'll double check this one, but I think because it is at Pacific Park, if you don't have a comp license you could still ride for no points by paying the Park entry fee and signing the Park indemnity.
Don't quote me just yet, but i will check with the powers that be, and post as soon as I have the "skinny"!
