As a prepubescent teen with a fascination for dirt bikes in the early 1970s, I was stopped dead in my tracks by the classic photograph of Mick Andrews riding over a fallen log amongst the dappled afternoon shadows.

Within maybe 2 months I stood proudly astride my first bike, an unblemished TY250A. Its unblemished state was not to last.

A decade later, life moved on and I recall parking the Ute outside the bedroom window in order that I disgorge the detritus of my life to enter adulthood.

Included in the mountain of detritus bound for the bonfire was perhaps 200kgs of 1970s bike magazines including issue 2 of an Australian magazine called "THE BIKE BOOK". It featured the aforementioned photograph of Mick Andrews on the cover. Totally responsible for my ongoing enjoyment of trials today!

If I really wanted to, I could buy that magazine on EBay today for $50. Perhaps not.
