Hi, I have a just purchased aTY250A which runs very well until it gets hot then dies and refuses to start until it cools down.
I had a TY175 with a similar issue that was rectified by Mr Chapman by putting in an older set of points because evidently in the newer points the plastics swell and thus close the points until cool.
Is there any other known issues I should look for before investigating the points, and is there any recommended points that perform as per the originals.
I don't really want to spend big on an electric ignition if I don't have to.

Re: ty250A issues
Could it be the capacitor (condensor) breaking down when hot?
I don't need help - I can fall off all by myself.

You can check if the points are having a problem when hot by taking the cover off and having a look when it is playing up.
A faulty capacitor is probably the most common reason for the symptoms you describe.

Re: ty250A issues
Update:
I fitted new points and new condenser, placed the condenser under the tank (shedworks tank) and she hasn't missed a beat.
Need more power but I am riding Trial4 so sometimes more technique is required to compensate for lack of power and suspension.
When im not riding sidecar on a modern, the old TY defiantly keeps Trials interesting.

First thing I'd do with any old 2S bike I bought is to give the exhaust a thorough cleanout.
