Picked up 1984 Ty250 and have found it is still running the direct oil injection system. I dont really trust it, so want to get rid of it. Is it just a matter of removing lines and tank and plugging the carby inlet? Any suggestions?
What ratio should I mix oil?
Also, does anyone know where to get a generic or second hand rear guard that would suit. New ones are available, but are close to $180.
Thanks

I run my Ty 175 at a 70:1 fuel to oil ratio
You can get a new rear guard from Sammy Miller in the UK - I bought one recently for around $100 australian landed.

(ask for Royal Mail for pastage)

It's been working fine for 23 years and now you don't trust it?
TY250 Info
I have run several TY250R & 350S on & off for over 20 yrs - have always used Castrol TTS Synthetic at 60:1 & PULP 98 RON - touch wood have never had any engine problems at all - good plug life on NGK B6ES, clean running with no pinging.
There is heaps of info on google search about diconnecting the oil injection system - simply need to make sure evertything is blanked off & carefully disconnected.
Mudguards from Sammy Miller or Trail & Trials UK - or often TY Mono bits on Ebay - you can put a "wanted" on Ebay.
If you like TY's suggest look out for a tidy Pinky - they ride heaps better than the oil injected / steel tank bikes - better suspension, disk front brake & engine tune is better (if not too clapped out)
