I have a 1974 Cota 247 with matching engine and frame numbers 21M16172. I removed the tool holder today and noticed that 17 is stamped on both the left and right crankcases just in front of the rear engine mount, and I have no idea what this means???? The full engine number is stamped in the usual place just behind the front engine mount. I have checked the parts manual but no clues there
I don't suppose it really matters that much but I am just a little curious. Can anyone shed any light on what it might signify?
Thanks
Linz

Re: Montesa Mystery
I suspect that would be the pairing number for the matching halves of the crankcase when it was ground.
