Today I have been working on that tank plug I started about this time last year. At present the plug has a top player of fibreglass on it. This will allow me to shape the under side without damaging the top side. The plan is, once the plug is done, I'll greate a two piece mould to then create a two piece tank.
Once the tank is done I'll swish some hydrocarbon resistant stuff in the tank.

Today I also layed up the second set of guards to be made from the moulds I made this time last year.

I popped the second set of guards out yesterday. They came out in about 2 minutes. Much easier than the first set. Looking at the finer detail I've done a better job on these ones. The owner of them will be very pleased when se sees them! I hope he's looking forward to it. The gel coat is shiney as!

The fifth of October is only five days away. Guess what that means? It means that it will be the FISRT pink slip for the RL.
On the day I'm going to buy a cup cake and eat it in celebration. Not a muffin. A cup cake.

The new set of guards for the RL are complete. See the pictures below.

I'm disappointed with :NSW: . Over the course of this year just gone they have modififed the fee for motorcycles.
It now goes from
0cc to 225cc = cheap,
226cc to 700cc = expensive,
701cc and up = to a car.
It cost me $400 for a CTP for the RL250. What a rip off!

That doesn't matter. Come November I'll be going to my new job in Mackay :QLD:.
I'm getting ready to become a Mexaican.

Jean,
Do you have guards for your RL?
At present I can not make guards. I am in the process of moving from New South Wales to Queensland. Maybe next year after I build a shed I can work on guards. Until then, I do not have anywhere to work.
Can you post pictures of your RL?

Westy

woohoo! sfrinally people with RL's! After getting given an old RL years ago and stripping it down with the idea of fixing it up to be a goer,I got it all painted and bogged up(i think the tank now holds half what it used too) I got to work on the motor after pulling it apart i discovered that they had destroyed a couple of gears.oh well i'll just ring the wreckers i thought, after ringing nearly every bike wrecker in oz & getting told i was flogging a dead horse &that i should take it to the tip, plus i should learn to ride so i stop wrecking gearboxs(hello f/wit it was f%#ed when i got it!) into storage it went.2 years later while looking in a lady's shed on a farm i go hunting on i couldnt believe my eyes  ,yep you guessed it another RL!also incomplete but with a few parts i am missing and the bottom end of the motor to boot.i'll drag it out and try to make something of the two.will post photo's when i work out how to do it(may need help on that one)i would be interested in some gaurds if u make any Westy, mine are both broken.
