TY250 swingarm bushes/bearings

I will soon be replacing the bushes in a TY250 swingarm and decided to try out something a bit different this time.
The gear in the top of the photo are the normal bits used for this (Yamaha OEM parts and an aftermarket inner bush from John Cane in the UK).
The lower package is four needle rollers and two bronze thrust bearings from the US, supposedly for TY250. I'm keen to try them out but am wondering how easy the needle roller outers will be to get back out again when/if they fail. I think I'll need to be diligent with servicing it if/when I ride in water.
Has anyone tried this setup?

Hello David. Every winter I service my TY and I notice that water and dirt got in the swing arm pivot, I'll follow with interest your future post on the bearing vs bushing.

TY250 kickstart

It's been many years since you could buy new TY250 kickstart lever or knuckle from the Yamaha shop.
After 40+ years a couple of mine have suffered from the swivel pin cracking. I did buy a second-hand 1970s Yamaha MX250 kickstart a few months ago and it is very sturdy, has a larger diameter swivel pin and is slightly longer but the top end sticks out a bit and it is heavy.
For the past couple of years I have been watching eBay listings for new TY250 kickstart parts. I bought the knuckle about a year ago and the lever turned up in the post yesterday. Both Yamaha parts came from the US

Re: Rusty Iron Rally

I'm not so sure your pic is a TY250D. They didn't have the blue body work behind the seat.

Billy, you are right, they are more like a TY 175 seat. Mika and I were discussing his bikes and he asked me if I had the right seat, his seat was in excellent condition and would probably swap if anyone had the right seat. I told him I have a TY 250 C with the same dilemma and there was a TY 250 D for sale recently with A/B base painted blue. It seems a lot more :yamaha A and B models were sold making them easier to find?

Not only rarer because of there being not as many sold, but the steel C/D seat bases also rust, crack and fall apart quite rapidly. I think it was someone in Victoria made some new seat bases for C/D models using fibreglass a while back ( I know this because they used my D model seat base to make the mould from). I can't remember who it was though.

I bought a seat from Sammy Miller products for my C a few years ago as it was missing. Base is fibreglass from memory & you have to use your original mounting brackets, front bracket is really common but the rear are unique to the C onwards. TY trials & Yamaha majesty both have kits available now but only the ones from TY trials are replicas of the originals
