For information, the active ingredient / chemical compound in both molasses and in Coke that "removes" the rust is Phosphoric acid.

Phosphoric acid is used in most "rust converter". The phosphoric acid converts the reddish-brown iron oxide (rust) to black ferric phosphate.

You can buy Phosphoric acid, I have had a 20 litre drum of the stuff since the early 90's and have been using the same acid, now somewhat diluted with water, for cleaning out my fuel tanks. On a lightly rusted tank it only takes a couple of hours, and the longest that I have had to leave the acid in a tank is about 24 hours.
