Hi from Newbie,
Great site, thank you.
Just a before and after photo of my Greeves 1960 24TCS, and a converted Roadster Jame Captain, I use to compete on a few years ago in Northern NSW/SE QLD Classic Classes.
I have never competed on the Greeves, but It was road registered for a few year, in I used it to get to and from work... It has sat, unused for about 12 years, at the back of my shed. I have decided to get it out and maybe ( body allowing ) compete in so local low key Trials.

Nice to see some authentic P65 bikes for a change................more and more P65's in the UK are now the 2012 variety!

Thanks for the comments, I think the old James maybe floating around in QLD, somewhere. Anyone know of it where abouts????
Micheal Butler Won the Qld twin shock classic, a few years ago beating many TY's, Bultaco's and Montessa's. When he had it he just changed the bulky tank.

The James is in my care after I bought it many years ago from Michael.
It has changed a lot from those photos but Michael had made most of the changes. It has Falcon shocks and 35mm Betor forks. I geared it lower to compensate for my lack of skills. I am not sure if it satisfies P65 rules with the Betor forks.
I take it out to trials about twice a year to speciality events where people are pleased to see something old and do not look too closely at the components. eg Broweena & Conondale. Most riders in P65 can ride soo much better than me that they don't worry about me beating them even if the bike is not kosher.
I can even remember you riding that bike in the original form many, many years ago in SE Qld. Those original forks are really flogged out and would take massive bespoke work to get them usable.
Hope you get motivated to get the other bike rideable and join us again.

Good to hear its still going. I did break everything you could, so it ended up a solid bike in the end.. Does it still have the full circle crank I made up in it???? Any chance of some photos????? if you Pm your email I could send some photo of the origional frame when I got it, as the frame was a different purchase from the motor. From memory I paid $80 for the frame and it came from the back of Brisbane somewhere. $200 for the 6E motor, it came from Pioneer Cycles, Nambour, along with the 150 villiers motor in Micheals CZ rigid trials.

made some progress this wet weekend. Got the Greeves out,cleaned it, changed the oils, cleaned carby, a few prods but no spark. Flywheel off, cleaned and checked the points, reassemble and still no spark????????? cut the wires from the handle bar kill switch, and she sprung into life!!!!! :D rubber had perished earthing every thing.. exhaust being repaired so a quick spin down the road with an open pipe, early on a sunday morning.

I was going to pay $80 for an auxilliary tank to use when giving my bikes a run, but your Greeves special has just saved me :)

Amazing how far you get on a coke bottle, ran my restored Fergy Tractor on a test run up and down the road several times. Just remember to put a small hole in the top!!!!!!
