Son's mate just bought a 2013 Ossa & it seems like a very nice bike, the thing is there seems to be very little local info on them?? it's like there the best kept secret going in trials? i have to ask are they still being made, is there a 2015 model, who sells them, can you get parts easily, & the big 1 what happened to the Ossa enduro bike???

Hi Eagle,
We (Moto Central in Canberra) were the Importers for OSSA from 2011-2013. We also have been the Importers for Sherco for 15 years. We made a decision last year to downsize & focus on the Sherco trials bikes & passed on all our OSSA spares to the guys from Trials Experience in Victoria. (We also sold off our Sherco Enduro import business & kept the Trials side). We did have a few problems with warranty/spares backup from OSSA but generally they are a great thing. The Enduro bike never got past the pre-production stage to the best of my knowledge. Now that OSSA has formed an alliance with GasGas things should improve with spares/warranty backup. As far as I am aware OSSA hasn't appointed a new Importer so it sems to be in limbo at this stage. We are able to source OSSA spares from a couple of other OSSA Importers that we have contacts with and we are still trading in & re-selling OSSA's.
Maybe send an email to the CONTACT link on the OSSA Factory site http://www.ossamotor.es/EN/

And to add to Don's info above: Gas Gas in Spain had space available, and a small production line, at the Girona Factory. So Gas Gas has basically leased this to OSSA. OSSA are still run and managed by the original OSSA staff, working out of space at the large Gas Gas Factory in Girona - it is not controlled or operated by Gas Gas Spain or Gas Gas Australia at all.

Hi Eagle, you will find no matter who you talk with, be it some of the original purchasers or the importer regarding the new 280i Ossa most will generally have a sad tale to tell. Ossa's initial promise of the new technology being the way forward with the benefit of a two year warranty was a great inducement for many to purchase these bikes. To many, these claims have proved to be worthless. Huge financial losses by many new purchasers has been common place and borders on unbelievable the deals done in relieving themselves of their Ossa to get a different brand of new bike. A couple of the major problems that were apparent on the first model in 2011 were not addressed and little really changed with the release of the new model in 2012.. The Australian importer was well and truly left high and dry apparently by the parent company which saw a landslide of new broken 280i's sitting waiting for warranty work that never eventuated for many. The 2013 model saw a change to the ECU unit as well as a new questionable head design that was to create another set of problems. The power delivery was way too aggressive for lesser skilled riders as the new ECU unit would not accept the more gentle maps of the earlier bikes, again causing frustrations for the unsuspecting new owners, particularly lower grade riders that were sold these bikes on their supposed gentle rider friendly characteristics. These purchasers of the 2013 were then faced with the familiar pattern of having to take a big hit to move on their new bike to purchase a more suitable less aggressive machine. For those that did keep their Ossa and had problems, it turned out to be more of the same and with out any warranty help, considerable expense was needed to keep them rideable. With their home base in Melbourne, the Trials Experience Team have proven to be a tremendous help with the limited resources they have had to work with.. Back to the bike, these are a great machine, I have not been able to find anyone that will supply a new 2015 model 280i here in Australia.

Integration between OSSA and Gas Gas begins

The first bikes of the clover produced in the factory of Salt will be released this month.

17/02/2014

After last December agreement between OSSA Factory SL and Gas Gas Motos SA , for which both brands share structure , R & D , new projects and other strategic aspects , the integration of the OSSA team in the Gas Gas structure begun.

OSSA technical department is already working on the new offices. The project manager Marc Castellà , the head of the injection department Membrives Xavi and the designer Gustavo Higón keep developing the OSSA projects in order to improve and expand the current range, while studying with their Gas Gas partners all the possibilities for synergies and increasing efficiency and competitiveness.

The after-sales departments ,managed by Felip Pou, and the spare parts department, are already installed in the Salt factory and are resuming their activities. Meanwhile, the production department is finishing the assembly lines and warehouses in order to start producing TRi range motorcycles before the end of this month.

Both OSSA as Gas Gas are very satisfied with the integration process and are confident that this new partnership will allow them to more optimally meet the challenges of the tough and competitive current market.

Hi Steve, You didn't seem to have too many issues with the 280i. How many titles did you win on it ? :D

Hi Billy, You are right, I was sold on the Ossa after a test ride and found it the best bike in its power delivery and other characteristics that I still was not tempted to change even with some of the teething problems. Now I was very fortunate with problem solving by a few good dealers from both here and overseas, and any issue that surfaced were quickly attended to. If a 2015 280i is available I will be first in line to pick one up. :D

Interesting article after reading Paul's reply. I was in contact with Ossa earlier this year and was advised that no Ossa parts were available presently,as the full itinerary parts list for Ossa were being integrated into the GasGas computers and parts would not be available until this procedure had been completed.

If you read between the lines in that OSSA statement it basically states, in a nutshell, the same OSSA staff have moved into the Gas Gas Factory.
If any OSSA owners are really stuck for parts, and have exhausted avenues with the local suppliers, please contact me and I'll try and source them for you from other avenues in Spain.
