Hi all, I'm keen to buy a trials bike. I'm in the 'mature' age bracket and currently ride a DRZ400, I occasionally compete in road trials here is SA.
I figure a trials bike will help to make me a better rider all round. I've got a budget of about $3 to $4 grand.
My looking around suggests I should buy a 05 / 06ish 250 model for that sort of money. Any suggestions as to what brand to buy and the pitfalls for a novice like me? Do all of that era of 2005 / 2006 trials bikes have tubeless rear tyres?
After I get one I'd like someone to teach me how to ride it and maybe have a go at competition. The Hogan family here in SA don't live far from me and we rode to their property one day and watched the State titles. Really nice people, the clerk of the course came up to us and said we could ride around to watch at the various sections. I liked the laid back friendly atmosphere of the event.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Re: New to Trials
hi kipo
i was in the same boat as yourself a few months ago with the same budget
best advice i have would be go to as many events as you can as there,s usually a few bikes for sale or people in the know about ones for sale, take a helmet as most are happy to let you try before you buy
dont forget to check the for sale section here
brand and year up to you and whats available but im happy with my beta rev3
I think most bikes have been running tubeless since at least the mid90s
cheers Mark

Cheers mate, I reckon I've see that one for sale. The name was Duncan but different number. I live 330 kms from Adelaide so I'll give him when I can get there to have a look.
Thanks again.
