South Australian Women's Cup

THE KEYNETON MCC ARE PROUD TO ANNOUNCE A ‘REVAMPED’ 2 DAY MOTO TRIAL FOR 2009, TO BE HELD ON SEPTEMBER 12 & 13 IN THE BAROSSA REGION.
It would be proposed to run all grades as per normal, with a half day ride on Saturday and a full day ride on the Sunday. The exception to this would be the sidecar and women’s classes who would have a full days ride both days.
However, if all riders can supply a competent observer for the Saturday, then it would become an all day ride for the other grades as well.
On the Sunday the Keyneton MCC would supply the observers.
Riding times would be as per normal on the Saturday (10.00am – 1.00pm & 1.30pm – 4.30pm), but on Sunday it would be from 9.00am – 1.30pm, with no lunch break. Presentations would then take place at 2.00pm, allowing all riders to head for home at a reasonable time.
If the right property can be found, and the land owner is in favour, then camping would be allowed and encouraged, and the Keyneton MCC would cater the event as well. The Keyneton MCC would also supply lunch to the observers on both days (subject to Saturday being an all day ride)
The introduction of the South Australian Women’s Cup follows the same course that has been taken in the eastern states for the last 6 – 8 years in promoting women in moto trials. With this in mind the women’s classes for this event run the same as the Australian Women’s Cup and it is hoped that new SA riders will give the sport a try and some interstaters will travel over the border to have a ride.
Being so close to the 2009 Trials des Nations, which is a week later, the top 3 women riders in Australia would definitely be unavailable if Australia sends a women’s team in 2009, but far from being a drawback, it does give other women around Australia a chance to compete for and maybe win, what could become one of the major trophies for women to chase in Australia.
