Mate left for overseas and said as Iam into bikes(xr600,Te250) and have ridden socially for years that I might as well have the TLR for a bit of fun on my property. Now I know its not the true TL trials bike but a bit of fun anyway.I am enquiring into parts like clutch plates are they the same as the true TL250 and some associated gaskets etc if for example the brake shoes of a XR 200 will fit .Head gasket of another known Honda model etc etc.Hope you people can help as I am pretty fastidious with maintenance of all my petrol or diesel motors and with the internet and heaps of knowledge outthere I hope can help.

I am afraid that I am not that cluey to load photos , but I will as my son or wife and see if they can for me.If you want to see what they look like there is a Honda trials history web siet and there is a photo of one on a mountain and you are looking at the left hand side from memory.I willsee what i can do.

No pressure mate, just enjoy the bike, that's the main thing eh? (And there's a load of people on here who will help and advise you if you need it).

Thanks for the reply. I am just mucking around with small things on it like lights not working, brakes will need replacing(XL185 shoes will fit), tidy up etc , cause when it goes up to my property all resources will be at home , so I want it OK before I take it up..I will keep looking to find whats common between different models of Honda's and hopefully I can get something to fit.
Cheers

Just letting you know , that this is a monoshock rg 1986 model and if you check Honda Trials history you will see that they look trail/trials but are not the true trials pedigree. Good luck with getting one for resto. I am sure you will come up with what you want.

Re: Parts commonality for TLR250r-Import 1986
Well, for the last couple of weeks using the Web, i cannot for the love of me( and a few ales every night) find gasket sets or anything that would help cross reference parts commonality to what i have inherited.I know basic stuff like wheel bearing, brake shoes, axles and bearing and also new piston ring are available but what do you do when you want to fit new rings, means, you need gaskets . I rebuilt my 1999 xr 600 with readily available after market parts/ gaskets etc and i thought that i could do the same with the tlr250r-g that was kindly given to me.If ol mate slips home and want to have a spin on it, and its not going i would not feel like i have done right by him.As previous stated I am pretty anal about maintenance on all my mechanical, including 50 hr service on my 1950s massey ferguson tractor, 3 cars, 2 quads etc etc.Prevention and oil is cheaper than new motors.so I am throwing it out there for some advice to help maintain a 31 yr old classic(maybe) toy. Thanks for reading my long winded text.

Tony, if Nil balance doesn't need your TLR used Piston, can I have an option on it?
