Right hand Betas
Was curious to note the Beta 4 stroke has a right hand kickstart instead of the traditional left hand starter on the 2 strokes. Does anyone know if there is a technical reason for right hand start on a 4 stroke or is this an attempt to increase their popularity with the riders who prefer a right hand starter

Yes I suspect that Beta are trying to make their bike as popular as possible and that having a RH kickstart might broaden the appeal compared with having a LH kickstart. Its quite a personal thing though and may not suit all riders. Some argue that the Beta LH start is actually an advantage if you stall the motor in a section in that you can keep your foot on the rear brake while kicking and balancing.
I've never had an issue with starting LH bikes like OSSAs, Bultacos or Betas but if someone had only ever ridden RH kickstart bikes it may mean something to them.
The other factor is that the Beta 4 stroke trials motor was developed in conjunction with KTM and they were probably keen to make the handedness of the motor the same as the KTM 4 stroke motors for simplicity of design (and maybe even manufacture by KTM???).
