Gas Gas 2000/2001 280 Buying Tips Please , Things to look

Postby symsy » Mon Aug 10, 2009 11:13 am

Anyone can give me any gotchas or buying tips when looking at one of these bikes other than the norm.

Looking to pick one up , I have access to one which has never competed , been ridden round the farm mainly by a senior.

Visibly good condition , just needs a good clean.

Are they worth in the 3000-3500 grand arena?

I appreciate your feedback

Hi there,

I owned a 2000 model until late last year, and I reckon they are basically bullet-proof.

In the 8 years I owned it, it did a season or two in B grade, then the rest of its life in C grade.

Basic annual maintenance, like clean/grease suspension linkages and change fluids.
Also changed the engine oil a couple of times a year.

I replaced the chain and sprockets once, the rear tyre twice, and that's about it.

Give Mal Loone a call and he'll tell you the same thing - that model will go forever.

Good luck,

Keith.

I bought Keiths bike and can vouch that its bullet proof. It has been a great purchase to learn to ride trials.
