Reverse Bleeding

Should it be possible to reverse bleed the clutch and brakes on a 09 Gas Gas please?
(clutch reservoir was empty! and rear brake needs new seals)
Not having any joy - can't seem to force fluid back through the bleed nipple (yes i have cracked it open first)

Hi Bogwheel,

I have reverse bled the hydraulics on a number of bikes, using a large syringe and piece of hose to force the fluid from the bottom up to the reservoir.

Try cleaning the nipple out, they clog up where you can't see easily. Removing it completely, force a strand from a wire brush through then blow out with compressed air. You don't want to be forcing muck in the nipple back up into the system.

Barney, if you cannot reverse bleed then the stroke adjuster on the lever is in too far and is covering the tiny fluid inlet hole in the reservoir. Back off that small adjuster all the way out and then it should work, once bleed you can the set the adjuster back to where you like it.
ps its the one that pushes the piston, not the outer span adjust.

Remove the bleed nipple and check there is not a ball bearing underneath it. This will act as a non return valve preventing you from reverse bleeding. Remove the ball bearing then bleed your system, then last thing replace the ball bearing and tighten the nipple. As previously quoted, make sure your lever adjustment is back off away from the master cylinder piston.
