Postby FM350 » Sun May 01, 2011 2:25 am

Wonder if anyone has tried a 30mm OKO carb on any current machinery?

Does the 30mm allow any more over rev at the top end, and was low speed running affected in any way?

Over rev - Maybe a bit on a GasGas 300 but not on the others... but why would you want this on a Trials bike?

Low speed running - The OKO30 has an elliptical bore so at low revs it's similar to the OKO28. Turning the 28 can be tricky at time and tuning the 30 can be a touch harder than that. But when it's tuned right it will be smoother off the bottom but it performance will vary (and need adjusting) from day to day.

Back to basics FM350 ... what is it you trying to achieve?.... And why are you looking at the OKO30?

I have a modified 30mm OKO on my 156 Fantic, and the bigger carb seems to work very well indeed. Just wondered if anyone else had tried one of these, and whether or not more over rev at the top end makes it easier to use a lower gear in the sections?

Wel if bigger carb seems to work very well of the 156 I think the OKO30 is a good bet then.

They are great carbs... just make sure you get one with the chrome slides and you should be OK.

I think the only ones that dont have chrome slides are probably the Chinese and Thai ones.............cheaper, but quality doesnt seem to be great.

The chrome slides are especially what is available. The OKO is from Taiwan, and they exclusively use the chrome slide as do the other knockoffs. I have recently ordered chrome slides from China. Quality is good and price is right, 5USD each. Keihin PWK throttle valves go for 67 USD here in the US. Do you chaps know which cut away you have on your throttle slides used for Trials bikes?

Cut away is specific to the bike carb is fitted to..............but a member of this forum is the Aus importer for OKO, and seems to have carb kits available for just about any trials bike you can think of, so may well be able to help with the parts you need.
