Re: Bultaco reunion at Conondale 2011
Just reached another milestone towards riding the M49 at Conondale. I went riding this afternoon after putting the motor back together. I can see why Ross and others rave about the motor now. Mine must have had poor compression before the rebuild because now it is just loverlee to use. I'm trying out higher bars but not the ape hangers yet and the handling is very pleasant indeed. The weakness I think I will be living with is lack of ground clearance under the large central frame tube under the motor. I can see why they did away with it and went to smaller diameter tubes along the sides of the motor after this model.
Next mile stone is fitting newish tyres.

Yeah they are nice, the only Sherpa with the 10:1 comp. don't know if that makes much difference but they do feel a bit unique when they are running right.
Here is a photo of mine after being tarted up a bit, before I go and make it all dirty and old again, I'm sure it won't take long.

Hi Everyone,
Ross, M49 looks really good (think you can see the reflection of photographer in the tank!) Hope you are still going to ride it a Conondale and not just look at it!

Re: Bultaco reunion at Conondale 2011
After going for the first ride post engine rebuild yesterday, I was so wound up after riding that M49 and the way the motor went like a tractor that I sat up and watched all the bits in Naturally Free that showed brownie's brother riding around on the 325. Very motivational.
Today after work another ride and then the new front tyre went on.
Tomorrow with any luck it will be another ride and then the newish rear tyre going on.
I'm hoping that if I ride it every day after work my brain will eventually be fully conversant with the left foot rear brake.

Hello all. Just an observation here but Brownie it looks like you need to loosen the chain before you ride your Sherpa, it looks a bit tight. And David you soon get used to using your left foot for the brakes and the gearstick is on the correct (right) side. That is all. Bully Lover.

Thanks David and Greg for the comments on the bike it probably looks better in the photos than in real life and by the time it gets to Conondale it will have been worn in a bit more, its definitely a rider Greg thats what their made for.
David I think you have me confused with NZ Nonstop Ross Brown, Craig isn't my brother as far as I know, maybe my riding skill level would be better if he was.
Bully fanatic the chain was tight I took a link out because it was at the end of extension and still too loose, a link out and it was tight, did go to a couple of bike shops to get a half link and they think I'm having a lend of them,no such thing exists according to them, yeah sure.Anyway went for a short ride and it has slackened off enough now to have a bit of play
