History of Oz Title Results.

Postby Rod » Wed Jun 05, 2013 11:39 pm

As above, does anyone know where to find results dating back to the 1990's or beyond, i tried a google search to no avail. I haven't contacted MA.

I'm just curious about this lately as i kick back with a few beers and reminisce about the old days.

Who has WON the most titles, Qld's Shane Mitchell won 3 or 4 from memory, has that been beaten? Genuine question.

How many Titles did people like Chris Leighfield, Peter Pace amass back in the '70s? And then there were blokes like Jeff Gough,Steve Hope,David Goldsmith that held up the Qld tradition and won Championships. Qld reigned supreme for many years in trials in A grade.

How awesome was it when Steve Chapman arrived with his HRC hondas in the mid '80s and blew everyone away, those were the days. I was just a bystander, but it was a "works bike" and the hype was palpable.

If anyone does have a list of previous results, regardless of the year, could the mods make a sticky for them.

My old mate Chris Leighfield won three consequtive open titles in the 70's and after that he won 6 Classic titles on the trot but I think he got 7 Classics altogether.

Fantastic, thanks for that Keith, I will print it out and hide it away.
I see that Chris L got 6 Classic titles not 7, but what a great riders he was.
Cheers

That list of results is awesome, thankyou.

It looks like Colin Z is the man with 5 titles. Shane Mitchell at 4. I'd forgotten how good Steve Johnson was back then, sorry.

What about Justin Gough and Maurie Blanchard in the sidecars with 12 titles, crazy mofo's i know, but what an achievement ! The stuff they ride would bring alot of us clubmen to grief.
