New from Japan

Postby ito » Sun Aug 07, 2016 4:31 pm

Hi guys,

I am from Japan.

I have been thinking to get Honda TLR200 for long time,
but I got Beta Techno at last and received her yesterday.
I have to check some part before riding as she is second hand trials.

She is my first trials bike and could be too powerful for me.

Thanks

My Beta Techno is 1994.

Condition; Hydraulic clutch does not work

AJP master cylinder kit will be needed.

Or a complete master cylinder will be needed.

I am thinking I should upgrade master cylinder to REV3/EVO.

Master cylinder kit is not compatible. Parts inside differ.

The master cylinder for Techno is a little bigger than master cylinder for REV3/EVO.

Thanks

You may find this a solution to your clutch problems.

Hydraulic clutch hose

Postby ito » Tue Aug 09, 2016 1:52 pm

Thank you for solution information.

When looked at hose carefully,I found fluid leaking at middle of hose.

Beta genuine parts are not cheap.
So I will find aftermarket hydraulic hose.
Disc brake and hydraulic clutch hose use DOT4 as both are fluid circulation.
Which pressure is not high and worked by human hand and foot depression.
Cheaper hose has no transparent cover. I will get it at homedepo.

Your bike looks to be in good condition for its age. I hope you like the motor. I found that the standard '94 Techno has a strong throttle response

AJP clutch

I removed clutch hose from engine but could not remove it from master cylinder which stuck as shown attached.

I splayed lube onto stuck part and am waiting for a while till tomorrow.

AJP clutch

Postby ito » Wed Aug 10, 2016 12:01 pm

That hose end was too tight to loosen this morning.
I wonder if hose end thread is clockwise or counterclockwise.
Or pre-owner glued with locktight? If so,I have to melt adhesive with heat gun.

Now I have removed hose from master cylinder afternoon.

Next step,I will get a hose for AJP clutch master cylinder.

Several hours later,I placed an order with HEL in UK.

The local Beta importer in VIC has a lot of parts in stock for the older Betas. Some really obscure stuff also. ..

Thank you for good information.

It is easy to find OEM parts for EVO and REV-3 as these are current catalog items.

But Techno is about twenty years old and so it is hard to find parts in Japan.

To maintain such old Motorcycle, some skills and experience will needed.

Techno is good enough to learn trials. She has still good capability.
