best gloves & grips
First up I am soft. Apparently I'm a comfort model! I've struggled for ages with sore hands at end of day after day competition and particularly after a day of practice. It's my left hand, so much I can hardly hang on. (be nice) Calluses with blood blisters under them type of things. I've tried different gloves but still remain with standard grips bike comes with. Am I just soft and need to toughen up? or has anyone else experienced this and what solution is there? What have you found to be best gloves and or grips?

Don't know what your standard grips are but I use Renthal medium grips and Hebo gloves.
From my experience blisters are caused by the fabric of the glove moving on the skin, so you should find gloves that are a perfect fit and that grip against your skin well. Thin fabric is better than thick.

Another vote for Renthal medium grips. I currently use MOTS gloves but have used Hebo also.

As above, Renthal soft or medium trials grips, I have a pair of MOTS and HEBO gloves. Both are very good, as David said your gloves need to be a really good fit and need to be broken in so the gloves form to your hands properly. Just like you do with new boots, helmet. Hands will toughen up over time.

the other thing is that maybe you're gripping too hard. Its easy to forget. Obviously in a section you're going to have a big grip on to cope with the obstacles, but maybe try to consciously keep a looser grip when between sections etc. Same with road riding, a more relaxed grip can be good.
