Ladies and Gentlemen.
Winter approaches.
This year we have done a major in the garden and the "burn pile" is well over the size of a house.
I'm sure it will burn hot for 48 hours and some.
So ... not to waste the moment ... I thought I might toss the TY exhaust, along with many others, into the mix.
Is there anything I need to be wary of.
Alastair.

Re: TY250 Exhaust Burn Out
Bonfires are just the right temperature. It does only need to be bonfire hot for 30 minutes or so. I wouldn't leave it any longer than needed for the smoke to stop coming out, to avoid unnecessary oxidisation.
relax, nothing is under control
Re: TY250 Exhaust Burn Out
I never used that method to clean a TY exhaust, but I noticed a difference after the cleaning. If you have a chance put your exhaust on a scale before and after, you might be surprise.

Thank you.
I'll tie a loooooong piece of fencing wire to it and fish it out in time.

Re: TY250 Exhaust Burn Out
You can leave it in the fire for plenty of time, might as well do it thoroughly.
I burn it out in a 44g drum. Some people shoot compressed air through while it's hot.
Beware though, watch out for the sparks etc. (and don't tell anyone I said!)
There will be burnt carbon which needs to be shaken out afterwards.

Re: TY250 Exhaust Burn Out
Be careful I ruined an exhaust by leaving it on a hot bonfire for to long. If you leave it on for to long you will completely burn out all the packing and the exhaust does not perform properly.
