The Nationals in SA

Postby Neo » Sun Jul 08, 2007 8:13 pm

Hi All,

I'm starting to work on how I'm gonna get there and where I'm gonna stay.:?

Does anyone know the names of the close-by towns to the 3 events:-
October 6/7th - South Australian State Championship
October 10th - Australasian Masters Games
October 13/14th - 2007 Australian Moto Trials Championship

Best of balance.

We stayed at "The Dairy" just south of McClarenVale which was a great little self contained cottage but you need to have a desire to enjoy the wines to venture that far south.

If you want accomodation linked to wineries and trials just let me know. We're working our way through Vic, NSW, SA and maybe Tas and WA in the future. So far we have a really good nest of cottages to base from in three states and a great selection in Vic even after we have our bookings!!

I can put you onto a top place for Glenmaggie next year too!

Hi BJ,

The Cottage and wineries idea sounds great. Except for the fact that I've recently given up ALL alcohol, as part and parcel of our families healthier eating philosophy….(who knows I may even live a day or two longer  )

It’s funny but the last time I remember having a good drink (and I mean a good drink ) was the day I got my 06 Sherco. I was so happy with it, that I just had to celebrate. Then one thing lead to another. And I found myself riding a good size gap between two rocks…somewhat….intoxicated
Next thing I know….me and the Sherco swapped places….I was on the ground and the Sherco was upside-down on my back. ....didn't hurt a bit though.

G'Day Neo from the Barossa Valley

The town nearest the SA Titles and the Masters Games is Tungkillo but accomodation there is a bit scarce.
Tungkillo is about 20 - 30 minutes from the centre of the Barossa, passing through Mt Pleasant, Springton and Eden Valley (1998 & 1994 Title site)
The Nationals are being held (90% certain) at the same location as 2002, Menglers Hill between Angaston and Tanunda. The major sponsor is the Vine Inn Hotel in Nuriootpa so we would appreciate it if that is your first try, then try the Nuriootpa Caravan Park.
Nuriootpa is 10 minutes from the trial site.
If you dont get any joy there try http://www.barossa.com
There are heaps of cottages/B & Bs in the Barossa region so you should have a lot of options.
Be quick though and please tell others that you know are coming over the same as the Masters Games are holding a Hill Climb that same weekend in the Barossa as well, so accomodation options may go quickly.

At this stage rumours are we may get close to the 200 entry mark, which will make it the biggest Titles yet.

For any other queries message Ben Zander or myself through the Trials Oz forums and we will do all we can to help.

Cheers and see you in October

Hi all around Australia & across the Tasman.

It is now 100% certain that the 2007 Vine Inn Hotel Australian Moto Trials Championships will be held at the same location as 2002, on Menglers Hill, between Angaston and Tanunda in the heart of the Barossa Valley.

I hope this helps all with organising accomodation etc.

Happy hopping until October
