After going through the routine of the clubs Annual General Meeting before the trial started the event got underway on time with riders tackling five laps of eight sections and it was good to see so many new faces on board with some riding in their first ever event after sampling the joys of trials riding at our recent "Come & Try " day.
The sections were set allowing for the new riders and tired oldies but with the usual competitive banter that accompanies the end of season event.
Qld's equivalent of the British Lampkin family, the Reed family, were as usual out in force with riders competing in four different grades and this could well double if they all start turning up next season.
Grandpa Denys ( the Qld equivalent to Arthur Lampkin) failed miserably on his first lap picking up a soul destroying five in section 1 after going the wrong side of the arrow, much to the delight of grand daughter Adina.
Young Jim Reed and Andrew Carpenter battled it out in C grade with the ever improving Jim getting the honours by three marks over Andrew, meanwhile the new riders in the lower grades were having a tough day with scores up around the 100 mark and in places the days temperature seemed to be around the same figure.
Lone Classic Roger Galpin, who is back on his trusty Tiger Cub, had an easy day with a loss of only two marks which would have put him in second place in Clubman ahead of Qld Clubman champion George Lewis who had a bad day loosing ten marks.
Adina Reed was over the moon to drop less marks than grandpa Denys (9), who must surely be thinking of hanging his boots up, after she had a top ride finishing on two marks lost in Junior ahead of Isaac Luft, 11, and Glen Pigot 27.
Clubman went to a ride off after Phil Drew and Robert Morgan battled it out all day to both end up on one mark lost with Phil winning a tense ride off after three sections to decide the winner, Bruce Curtis came in third.
Lachlan Hannam had the only flawless ride of the day winning mini bike by a large margin ahead of Zac Reed.
LRMTC club members can now look forward to the clubs Christmas party on the weekend of November 21/22 at Yarramalong, nr. Lake Moogerah where there will be many highly exagerated yarns swapped, hard earned trophies picked up and a beer or two consumed, see you all there.
