AMA TCC Top Naas Two Day Fun Trial Event Overview

Our Two Day Trial at the brilliant Top Naas Homestead on May 22nd and 23rd is a little different. You are invited to join us at Top Naas Homestead for a typical TCC Fun Trial.

You must be a financial member of the AMA to ride. You don’t have to be a financial member of the TCC to ride. However, we’re always happy to have more members. You must have a Trials bike to ride in the Trial. No Enduro, MX, cross-over, or mountain bikes permitted.

Here are a few clues to the event:

  • Naas is pronounced 'nase'. I've lived in the region since 1960 and that's how I always pronounced it. Just to be on the safe side I checked with Mandy and Kelvin, our wonderful hosts, who confirmed 'nase'.
  • The loop is going to be as long as we can make it. Between 12 and 16 km.
  • Sections will be possibly 24. But could be 26, or 28 or even 30 depending on entry numbers
  • Two laps each day; No Observers as such. You will be riding in pairs. We will sort the entries into pairs, taking parent / child pairings into consideration. Make sure you have a suitable pocket for a pen. Each pair will observe each other.
  • The first two pairs will leave the Control area at a time (tbc) on the Saturday. One pair will start at Section 13 going around the bottom of the figure 8 loop. The other pair will start at Section 1 going around the top of the figure 8 loop. The next two pairs will then leave at 2 minute intervals. If we get 100 entries, the last pair will leave at tbc. Each pair will have five hours to finish their two laps. They should allow for a refuel / rehydration / lunch / rest break. 
  • The two minute start interval and overall time limit is for no other reason than to spread you out around the course.
  • The loop will be like a figure eight, with the cross over point back at the Control area. There will be a refuelling area at the cross over point, to enable refuelling, or battery swap over, to be undertaken in a controlled environment.

There will be no "Grades" as such. There will be four lines. Red line will be the hardest. Yellow line will be challenging, Blue line will be enjoyable, and Clubman line will be anywhere in the section. I would hope to have Luke Anderson ride the Red Line. Peter Curtis to ride the Yellow Line, Trevor Bennett to ride the Blue Line and Bill Guthrie to ride the Clubman line.

  • Those of you that believe in C+ should ride the Yellow Line.
  • We will be using a minimum amount of section splits. There will be no splits in the White line. The section tapes will be expansive.
  • For example there may be only 3 red splits on the wall of death. However for any Trial 1 riders entered, they can make the section as challenging as they wish by going up and down the face three times and including various rock steps at the top. This will be the same for each line.

Any rider who claims the sections were too easy will be directed to the mirror hanging up next to the scoreboard. Once they look in there, they will see the person responsible for making their sections too easy.

Have you noticed there are no Minders. Those riders who regularly ride with a minder, can now ride with the same person but at this event that person will be a rider, just the same as the rest of us.

You enter whichever "line" you feel comfortable with. Just make sure your nameplate matches the line you are entering. There may be trophies. Any money we don’t spend on trophies will automatically increase our profit.  Every dollar that we make after expenses, will be donated to Tim and Ina Coleman, who as you all will know, are doing it very tough at present and into the future.

Camping will be available on Friday, Saturday & Sunday nights. There will be sausage sizzle catering for Saturday & Sunday (lunches). All catering proceeds will be included in the fundraising and proceeds will be going directly to Tim and Ina Coleman.

Please note that Supp Regs will be circulated very soon, however entries will open on May 2nd and close on Thursday May 20th at 10pm. There is zero tolerance for late entries so get them in early.
