Motorcycling Australias Trials Commission has confirmed that the 2013 Australian Championships will be held under the current rules, and will not be run under the NO STOP rules recently adopted by the FIM for World Trials Championships in 2013.
"The 2013 MA GCR's have already been locked in for 2013 which means the titles will run as per 2012 and at this stage will not be changed" advises the commission.
"The current GCR's already allow non stop if the promoter wishes, and it should be remembered that the last time the FIM decided to introduce the non stop rule, it was only implemented for a few years before reverting back. . The general consensus seems to be that we should wait and see what impact this and any other changes the FIM decides to implement for 2013 before contemplating changes to our rules for 2014".
"It is obvious that the present FIM decision will affect riders aiming to compete in World Championship events in 2013, and our TDN teams, meaning if the FIM rule is implemented for 2013 (and not retracted beforehand) steps will need to be taken to train our riders and managers in the non stop style".
With thanks to the MA Trials Commission.
