The slippery conditions of the sections at Barbagello Ballpark in Western Australia proved difficult for all riders, struggling to find grip on the obstacles that were a mixture of large tyres, concrete pipes and manmade timber mazes.
Taking charge all evening Chris Bayles (TAS - Gas Gas) rode the standout performance in the heat and finals lap to take the day 2 win from close competitor Tim Coleman (VIC - Beta). Trevor Campbell (VIC - Beta) hung on for 3rd place proving he could bounce back after sustaining a knee injury just a week earlier. Sam King (VIC - Beta) finished fourth missing a podium spot by only a few points.
Kyle Middleton (NSW - Gas Gas) met with bad luck on day 2 busting a foot peg against a concrete section in the heats lap. Middleton returned to competition with a borrowed bike where he made a series of errors that saw him tied fourth with Coleman in the heats lap. The two competitors were challenged to a ride off with Coleman being the faster rider and setting the top four contenders for the final lap.
The two second places for Victorian Tim Coleman was enough to secure the Australian X Trial Championship victory. Tassie boy Chris Bayles locked in a 2nd place and New South Welshman Kyle Middleton rounded out the championship podium.
