Beta Racing team had their first competitive ride at this years Tasmanian Trials Titles last weekend. The trial was held at the Bayles' Mt Joy property instead of Dillston.
Trevor Campbell on a Beta EVO 125cc was second in Expert just behind Kyle Middleton. Tasmanian Chris Bayles came in third while Beta Race team member Tom Scott finished fourth. In A grade, Sam King also on a Beta EVO 125cc was placed second in his first ride in A grade. For a junior rider this was a fantastic result. Sam showed plenty of courage, skill and potential tackling the big rocks of Mt Joy. Ina Halls on her Beta EVO 125cc had a good ride in a hotly contested C grade to finish fifth.
The Mt Joy property is huge with enormous scope for section setting. The sections featured lots of rocks - some loose shale type rock and some just plain big. Lots of logs and some good climbs with many tricky turns really tested the large field of 60 odd riders. Around half the field were from other States, mainly Victoria with a few from NSW. The atmosphere of the event was wonderful. The Tassie trials fraternity are really passionate about Trials and made the "mainlanders" very very welcome. The Bayles family put on a Sunday night BBQ which was much appreciated and enjoyed. Its great to have a natter about the event after its all over.
This is a wonderful event - every rider should try to get there. You will not be disappointed.
