The countdown has now started with only three months until the Australian Moto-Trials Championship to be held at Thunderbird Park, Mt Tamborine on 21-22 August, 2010. It is not the first time that the event has been held at Thunderbird Park and in the past the venue has proven to be excellent.
For those unfamiliar with Thunderbird Park, it is an amazing wildlife and geological oasis which stretches over 112 hectares on Tamborine Mountain. Translucent rock pools, inspiring landscapes, towering rainforests, star studded skies all add to the magic of Thunderbird Park. The 30 sections have already been selected and during the time leading up to the event they will be cleared and sorted to provide the best for both riders and spectators.
“Queensland is determined to put on a great show for this year’s Australian Championships and we are certain that Thunderbird Park will help make this a reality” commented Queensland Moto-Trials Chairman Robert Eyres.
The supplementary regulations are in the final stages and will soon be released on the Motorcycling Queensland website, along with other sites such as www.ma.org.au, www.aussietitles.com.au and here on Trials Australia.
The timing of their release will occur three months prior to the event.
Opportunities are still available for companies or individuals wishing to be part of this event as a sponsor. If you are interested in the opportunity to sponsor the premier event in Australian Moto-Trials, contact the Motorcycling Queensland Moto-Trials Subcommittee Chairman - Robert Eyers at [email protected] or Lyndon Blake at [email protected] for a sponsorship pack.
There are plenty of activities available including fossicking for your own treasures in the world's largest mine of thunder eggs or discovering Australia's first Adventure Park incorporating the largest ropes and adventure games course in our country. More information on Thunderbird Park is available from www.thunderbirdpark.com.
Competitors and their families are encouraged to take advantage of the onsite accommodation available at Cedar Creek Lodges ranging from caravan park sites, bunkhouses and cabins through to Luxury Spa Rooms.
The Queensland Arena Indoor Moto-Trials Championships will be a fantastic addition to Queensland Trials Week to be held 21-29 August, 2010. The event will be held at the Carrara Sports Complex which is 20 minutes drive from the Gold Coast and is a two day event carrying Queensland Championship status.
Saturday’s event format will see some of Australia and New Zealand’s best riders vying for the Open Solo and Youth Titles. There will be two elimination rounds before the final and the event will be based on the FIM indoor scoring system.
“What a great way to finish what we are sure will be a great week for Moto-Trials in Queensland” commented MQ Moto-Trials Subcommittee Chairman Robert Eyres. The Indoor Arena concept is a great way for spectators who are not familiar with Moto-Trials to come along and get a great appreciation for this exciting form of motorcycling” Eyres continued.
The Queensland Moto-Trials subcommittee is currently in negotiations with Australia’s very own Jack Field, who is widely considered as one of the best in the business, to conduct a Freestyle Trials show during the break before the final. Jack will certainly have his work cut out for him, as he will be aiming to make the Open Solo final as a competitor. There will also be a number of other demonstration activities as part of Saturday’s program.
Attention then turns to Sunday, when the “best of the rest” in the B, C, Clubman, Junior, and Twin Shock / Classic categories hit the sections. There will be a total of 75 positions available in Sunday’s field. Ten sections are available for riders to try out their riding skills over two days of competition, with changes being made to the section severity from Saturday to Sunday’s competition.
For those riders competing at all three events during Queensland Trials Week, tickets for Saturday’s Queensland Arena Indoor Moto-Trials Championships can be pre-purchased with entry into any of the other events. Tickets will also be available to purchase at the event on the day. A small entry fee will also apply to Sunday’s Queensland Arena Indoor Moto-Trials Championships program. The Supplementary Regulations for this event are in their final stages and will soon be released on at www.mqld.org.au and here on Trials Australia.
Individuals or companies interested in being part of this event or the whole Queensland Trials Week as a sponsor or supporter can further discuss these options with either Robert Eyers at [email protected] or Lyndon Blake at [email protected]
Incorporated into what is now becoming widely known as Queensland Trials Week to be held on 21-29 August, the Western Districts Trials Club will be hosting a mid-week Gate Trial on Wednesday the 25 August, 2010. The Gate Trial event has been programmed in between the running of this year’s Australian Moto-Trials Championships at Thunderbird Park and the following weekend’s Queensland Arena Trials at Carrara.
The venue for this event will be Rob Wager’s ‘Rockatoo’ property which is located in the beautiful township of Esk, approximately one hour ’s drive west of Brisbane CBD or just under two hours from Thunderbird Park.
A Gate Trial is a unique style of Trials event where all grades can compete against each other in the same sections. The idea is to score points by riding through pairs of arrows that define a gate. The rider decides which line to follow to get the maximum score possible for their riding ability.
A taped off section includes gates of varying difficulty:
The blue gates are an easier level so that clubman and mini-bike riders can score points. Blue gates score 3 points.
Yellow gates require a moderate level of skills and score 2 points.
Red gates are the most difficult and score 1 point.
Riders carry a scorecard for each lap. On arriving at each section the rider inspects the section and chooses the gates they feel they can ride. Any rider can ride any gate if they feel they can manage it.
Property owner Rob Wager is looking forward to the event. “It’s fantastic that the Queensland Moto-Trials Subcommittee is aiming to capitalise on running the Australian Championships in Queensland. This Gate Trial will certainly add to the whole week and I am delighted to be able to host the event here at Rockatoo” Wager said. “It’s certainly given us great motivation and a deadline to make sure we’ve got our hot shower and camping facilities up and running in time for this event” Wager continued.
Further information, including Supplementary Regulations for this event, will be posted on www.mqld.org.au and here on Trials Australia.
