Australian Women's MotoTrials Champion Kristie McKinnon has faced up for attempt number two at the Scottish Six Day Trial this week in Fort William, Scotland.
Kristie tackled the Scottish in 2009, by all accounts one of the hardest Six days of all time, with unbelievably bad weather, and bitter cold smashing all the riders, and making it a truely harsh baptism into the world's most famous trial.
Well that obviously wasn't going to dampen her spirit so she's up for attempt number two this year.
We will be posting her comments on the event as she sends them through.
She arrived in England on Monday the 25th after some scary days looking like all the flights had been cancelled due to the volcanic eruption. After many frantic phone calls, and constant changes of bookings, and flights she finely made it to the Ol' Dart and picked up her SSDT prepared Scorpa SY250R from Six day legend Nigel Birkett.
Heading North to Scotland she hooked up with riding partner Graham Peace. They are riding together with riding numbers 64 (Peace) and 65 (McKinnon.)
From Kristie MONDAY:
Hey guys, we have seen the other aussies yesterday but their numbers are a long way from us so it's a bit hard to keep in contact now we are riding. The weather today has been brilliant, but time has been really tight. I think we were about 20 minutes late, a few small bike dramas, but there were a heap of people late so no worries. Really looking forward to Tuesday , this is 100% on 2009 so far!
Kristie came in in position229 (points 110) after Mondays ride, and Graham Peace was 239 (points 118).
From Kristie on TUESDAY:
Well Tuesday was going great guns....... then i managed to fill my bike with water in a Scottish waterfall! So by the time we dried it out and got going again we were 15 minutes late. All in all it is still going well even with the hold ups, and looking forward to the next four days.
Kristie came in in position232 (points 236) after Tuesday's ride, and Graham Peace was 222 (points 206).
Things must be busy because we haven't heard from Kristie for a day or two, but she is moving steadily up the results. She is currently in position 212, and Graham Peace is now 182nd.
After day six:
Kristie McKinnon 208th - Second class award finisher, and fifth outright in the Women's class.
Graham Peace 175th - Second class award finisher.
