Kyle Middleton won the Open Solo class at the final round of the NSW Moto-Trials Championships, held at Pacific Park on Sunday 7 November, to take the NSW Open Solo Titles for 2010. In tightly fought contest over four rounds, Kevin Zarczynski returned to the championship podium with his second place on Sunday giving him the runners up berth for the year and KIWI Jake Whittaker, who didn’t ride on Sunday, taking third place.
In the support classes the battles were just as fierce.
Although losing out in Masters on the day to David Pratten, Martin O’Connor took the title for the year with David Pratten second and Glen ‘Crafty’ Crafter third.
The Veteran class was once again a Holzhauser/ Nordsvan affair with Steve Holzhauser taking out first place on Sunday and the title, Greg Nordsvan in second place and although John Waterworth took third place on the day, it wasn’t enough keep Ross Middleton from taking third place in the championships.
Joe Henderson added the 2010 Post Classic title to his trophy cabinet with Don Rule second while Geoffrey King, with wins in the last three rounds, bagged third place.
In the development classes of Youth, Junior and Junior sub 200cc, each of the 2010 Title winners returned maximum points in every round to stamp their authority on the respective classes.
In Youth - Sam Bingley held off Matt and Dan Rule to take the title with Matt finishing second and Dan third.
In Junior - Jonathan Chellas, with a ride on Sunday that would see him take second overall in B Class, a mere 8 points behind Australian Woman’s TDN team member Kristie McKinnon, secured the championship title ahead of Charles Bingley in second place with James Boyle third.
In the Junior sub200cc class Jared Boniface returned yet another clean sheet on the Clubman lines to post his fourth successive win to take the 2010 Championship title ahead of Jonty Boorer in second place and Tom Ring in third. Metioned should also be made of two newcomers to NSW sub 200cc titles chase – Amanda and Kaitlyn Cummins - who both eased out Jonty Boorer on Sunday to take 3rd and 4th place respectively and nabbed 5th and 6th places in titles race to boot.
And finally – for no other reason than the results appears on the bottom of the spreadsheet I’m reading (note to self we must change that next year) to the ladies.
Despite injury keeping her from riding on Sunday, Michele Coleman took out the 2010 Title with Sue Ferris and Estelle Boorer battling it out down to the wire for the places. And what a battle it turned out to be and even tough Estelle beat Sue on Sunday by one position – it wasn’t enough to keep Sue from second place in the titles with Estelle taking third.
In closing I think I speak for all riders when I say a huge thanks to our faithful band of Observers who have turned out at each and every round and to the tiny but dedicated team of section setters who have given up an inordinate amount of their own time to plot our downfall.
