The "Overflow" at Boonah was the venue for the 5th round of the LRMTC club championship (CC) last weekend and with "double championship points" on offer attracted 44 riders keen to improve on previous results.
Ten sections had been set the previous day by the usual small band of workers and riders were given the choice of 4 or 5 laps,,,,, "5" was the unanimous response.
With double points on offer riders had to work a bit harder on sections that were consistently technical with a good variety of terrain making for a tight time schedule at the end of the day.
With a healthy B grade entry the battle was always going to be hard but as per his previous form Josh Lewis came out on top to take a stranglehold on the B grade club champ trophy. Aki, Frank VH, Andrew & Stewart Platt took out the remaining places in the top grade of the day.
Young guns James Turner, Jim Reed & Adina Reed kept ahead of Brent Carlton in C grade with James moving closer to Jim in the overall CC standings.
Robert Morgan and Bruce Curtis hung onto 1st & 2nd in the Clubman CC with consistent rides on the day to finish 3rd and 4th behind Andrew Atkinson and veteran Denys Reed with a host of good Clubmen snapping at their heels.
George Lewis returned to form in Twinshock with a win over Roger Galpin and Cedric VH but both of them claimed handicaps in the form of a new carburettor (Galpin) and a birthday for Cedric.
Sam Turner moved to within one point of Isaac Luft in the CC with first place in Junior, Isaac 2nd and Glen Pigott 3rd.
Many thanks to the days full time observers and to the riders who rotated making another excellent day's riding according to those I spoke to culminating in our usual and well received "Platt BBQ".
Next event will be the National Open "Battle of the Beards" featuring also the Clubman Masters, Aug 8th with working bee's Sunday Aug 1st and Sat Aug 7th, camping from midday Sat 7th and caterers attending Sat 7th also.
C Y'all there
