The AJS MCC will be holding the Make Smoking History WA State Trial Championships on the 13th & 14th September at Morangup Rd Toodyay starting at 10am both days. This will be the first time in over 10 years that the championship will be contested over 2 days of riding.
The program will cater for all grades including the first time in WA a hotly contested ladies State Championship, the riders to look out for in the ladies class is Megan and Lucinda Clarke from Quinn’s Rock, these two girls have shown over the last few seasons that they are ready to take a State championship title as they have competed at National level with great results.
The elite A grade will be a challenge of the titans as current State Champion Neil Price from Martin will be looking at trying to make it back to back wins, Neil is ranked in the top 3 in Australia and has been ranked number 1 Aussie twice and has competed overseas on the European circuit, he will be using all of his skills and experience to hold off Woodvale rider Grant Morris. Grant is a 7 times winner and has returned back from England to try and make it number 8. Callum Barton from Tapping will keep them both on their toes as he finished second to Price last year, and with plenty of practice over the last 12 months will be hoping he will hold the number one plate by the end of the event.
Other grades to look out for will be B grade, this grade is currently owned by Dave Thomas from Toodyay, Thomas has lead the way all year in the main winter series and will be hoping to cap it off with a State Championship win. As will be Sean Harfield from Wattle Grove who will be riding in the junior class, Sean has improved out of site over the last 12 months and can’t wait to compete against the senior riders in the near future.
Don’t forget the Vets and the Club Class, these are two of the most popular classes in Moto Trials and riders such as Sean McKenzie from Byford and Paul Church from Edgewater compete in these highly contested grades.
Catering will be available on the day with an entry fee of $5 per adult per day with Children free. If you haven’t seen this great sport now is the chance to be converted to Moto Trials.
