Sherco Racing was proud to support the Open and Junior Women’s classes at the 2010 Sherco Motorcycles Australian Moto-Trials Championships.
With very difficult sections for both grades on day 1 the women and girls showed determination and courage while attempting the slippery, rocky creek sections. In the Open Women’s class Michelle Coleman and Kristie McKinnon were very closely matched with only 1 point separating them at the end of the day. Ailsa Anderson held 3rd position with a comfortable lead over 4th placed Ina Halls.
Adina Reed led the Junior Women's class from start to finish with some brilliant rides on the difficult terrain.
The organisers made some changes to the sections for day 2, reducing the difficulty, which saw all of the female riders actually enjoying themselves and getting through. In the Open Women’s class Michelle Coleman held the lead with a clean day ahead of Kristie McKinnon dropping 2 dabs in the slippery conditions. Ailsa Anderson also had a much easier day, however the wet, rocky creek sections managed to take several points from her too. Estelle Boorer, Bernadette Lewis and Angela Sophios seemed to enjoy the drier hill climb sections, each having great rides on Section 14 on day 2.
In the Junior Women’s Class Adina Reed rode consistently to take the win. Adina will be one to watch in the Open Women’s class in the near future.
It was really pleasing to see that the event organisers were open to feedback and suggestions with regard to section severity. It is really important for organisers to keep the level of the sections rideable for all in the grade not just to sort out the top 2 or 3. Looking at the number of entries in both the Junior Women’s class and the Open Women’s class there are not enough of us to be discouraging anyone from riding. We need to be making a huge effort to support the girls to ensure we continue to have a title class.
Sherco Racing would like to thank everyone involved in their successful 2010 Moto-Trials season. Without the support of Motorex Oils, Moto-Central, TrialZone, Sign Design and TRP Suspensions R Us the Sherco Racing Girls could not have achieved these results. Ailsa Anderson and I would also like to thank Team Manager Toby Coleman for all his coaching, mentoring and support throughout the season.
Also a big thank you to Chris and Denys Reed and all the Reed Clan for their hospitality during Trials Week.
